Q.
How long will the lights last?
A. The bulb is rated to last 24,000 hours or about 4-5 years.
Q. How large an area will be lit up?
A. The light cone diameter will be determined by the water
clarity and the depth of
the bulb. You can expect a diameter, averaging
15 to 25 feet.
Q. How deep should the bulb be?
A. If the light is deployed in an area of boat traffic, it
should be at least 4 feet below
the surface to clear boat props. Clear
water will allow you to experiment with a deeper
bulb placement.
Q. How much electricity does the light
use?
A. The light draws approximately 3 amps off of the GFCI protected
110 watt outlet,
which should be $3-4 per month.
Q. Why does the light area look green?
A. The 175 watt bulb is crystal clear. The algae content and
floating particles in the
water make the lighted area appear
green.
Q. Do I have to clean the bulb?
A. The bulb burning every night will keep it clean. Any shorter
period will allow
algae and slime in lakes, barnacles
in salt water to attach to the bulb. Periodic
cleaning will be needed for full brightness.
